How do I Join ?

Membership is only open to residents of Delhi and its satellite cities i.e., Gurgaon, Noida, Faridabad and Ghaziabad, subject to: identification and a valid proof of address such as (Latest credit card statement, bank statement, telephone bill or electricity bill.) issued in the city in the name of the member. Submitting a false or wrong proof of residence will lead to cancellation of membership without any notice. 2 recent, stamp size photos (2.5 cm x 3 cm) are to be furnished along with the membership form duly completed.

The membership card is obligatory for borrowing documents.

Membership forms are available at the lending/assistance desk at the centre.
They may also be downloaded from the below links.
After completing the membership form and upon payment, a membership card will be issued which allows immediate use of library services.

Membership is valid for one year only, after which it may be renewed.

The signature on the membership form is an undertaking by the members that they have read & will abide by the rules and regulations laid down by the library.

What Can I borrow ?

Four kinds of membership are available: Basic membership Rs. 500/-, Multimedia membership Rs. 800/-, Premium Membership Rs. 1000/- and Institutional membership Rs. 5000/-.

For Institutional membership the cheque or draft should be drawn in favour of “CEDUST” only, payable in Delhi and not in any other name.

Minor membership

For minors, a letter of authority from parents/guardians is must besides the proof of address.
Minors are not allowed to borrow any document with adult contents from the library.
In case he or she takes it without the knowledge of the librarian, FIRC does not take any responsibility.

It is the responsibility of the parents/guardians to check the borrowed documents of their children.

Upgrading / Changing membership
Members desiring to change/upgrade to any other membership, at any given moment, before the expiry date of the membership, would be liable to pay the complete tariff of the new membership opted for.

Dual membership
Members can borrow books from the Alliance Française de Delhi library with the French Information Resource Centre card.  Similarly, the members of the Alliance Française library & Life members can register for free at FIRC on furnishing :
- the membership card (of AFD), the original receipt, 2 stamp size photos (2.5 cm x 3 cm) &  a valid proof of address in original (Latest credit card statement, bank statement, telephone bill or electricity bill).

This free membership at FIRC is limited to "Basic Membership" only and would and the valid only to the same dates registered with the Alliance Française.

Important:
- Members of AFD library desiring to take “Premium Membership”, have to pay Rs. 1000/-.
- The above provision of Double membership does not apply to the Professors of Alliance Française.
- Consultation in the library is free .

Extension / Renewal
The date of return on the documents borrowed may be extended for another loan period, that is, three weeks for books and one week for multimedia documents. Renewal of loan period may be done either through a personal visit or over the telephone. Extension of documents is permitted only once and only if another member has not reserved them. Renewals have to be done on or before the date of return. No extension will be given on overdue documents.

Reservation
If the documents you wish to borrow are out on loan, you may reserve them. Their availability will be communicated either via letter or e-mail. Documents will be held for a period of 2 weeks after which they will be returned to the shelf. Only two different types of documents can be reserved at a time.

Fine / late return
In case of late return of documents a fine of Rs. 2/- per document, per working day will be charged.  A maximum of 3 reminders by post / e-mail are also sent. Failure to return documents, the library has the authority to take necessary action as per rules & regulations of membership, including cancellation of membership or blacklisting.
